^^^This is the sort of intelligent inspiration/tribute (… or knock-off/rip-off if you like) I dig. Designers delving into the arts (and cultures)— whether paintings/music/dance for their inspirations brings a completely new perspective to the fashion arena. And it’s the reason I like the Dali/McQueen one and don’t find it as a rip-off.

Jonathan’s been blatantly ripping off the Greats left and right. He’s simply the worst. It must be such a tedious full-time job for his assistant to be blocking posters on his SM for calling him out— left and right.

Though to his credit, he’s always been able to water-down his rip-offs to a distinct sloppy signature that is all his (unlike someone like Prabal— who just knocks off pieces wholesale and cut-and-pastes as a look into his own collection).

Completely agree. It's references like this that make fashion thrilling.
