Help Me Find...

Also, could you put in a request at a good vintage shop? I believe you have some in NYC ...

The sneakers in this photo I screen-capped. Thanks!

Hello, I am looking for an old Benetton coat, mine underwent a bad dry cleaning and lost its shape + texture, but I would love to buy the same. Does anyone recognise the season? Any clues how to locate this item?

Check labels, they can provide a wealth of information such as fabric content, country of origin to narrow down your search online. Sizing is also a good indicator of age of garments. Even sized clothes are usually newer while odd sizes 1,3,5,7,9 tend to be older or vintage designs. I prefer vintage, odd sized clothes; the cut and the styles work better on me. Some companies like GAP, Old Navy, Banana Republic etc will include what season the garment was produced such as Holiday '12. I haven't owned Benetton stuff in years altho I have gone to their stores off and on since I was a teen. I don't think they designate the seasons on their labels.

Also if you're familiar with current label designs one can easily ID vintage vs newer garments such as 90s Express, Esprit, H&M. Old H&M labels look different and cooler imo which to me also indicates better quality with their older stuff. I have found tons of great vintage GAP or Old Navy stuff from 10 plus years ago by using their useful labeling system. As far as replacing or matching, I often see stuff in thriftstores I love but aren't my size and my go to is eBay for tracking them down in my size.

Most sellers on eBay, or secondhand stores for instance are clueless as far as what's high end designer vs overpriced mall fodder. Goodwill's "designer department" racks are filled with Express or some other mall none sense. (I'm not elitist when it comes to mall clothes or otherwise; just don't charge me twice as much for outdated, used stuff). Knowing the seasonal origins on the part of the seller is even slimmer unless the person bought the item directly from the source ie not secondhand.

I'd email Benetton directly and ask them if they recognize it and if they currently sell anything similar. I've had good experiences contacting companies directly like Diane Von Furstenberg and Eileen Fisher :flower:.

Does anyone have suggestions for who cuts the best men's trousers? Personally I love and own a couple Dries and Haider, but I'm wondering if there are any more affordable brands that offer similar cuts?

I couldn't find an underwear thread dedicated to dudes. Let me know if there's a more suitable thread somewhere I'm not aware of.

I'm looking for higher waist men's briefs underwear. Not full on shaping men's underwear which is apparently a thing but underwear which sits higher on the waist compared to regular men's underwear (so no low-rise styles). Black color and smoother fabric is preferred as opposed to scratchy heavy cotton materials in white or other less practical color options.

I keep getting directed to sketch websites when typing in "High rise brief." Where's my easy one-click, online shopping experience from a reputable online retailer. I'd rather skip the malls or Target for this one. I'm open to Hane's, Jockey etc as well as reasonably priced designer brands as long as they're not covered up with obnoxiously flashy designer logos or words on the waistband.

I found theses Hane's Ultimate™ Men's FreshIQ™ ComfortSoft ® Briefs which claim

"Full-rise styling for ease of movement."

Does this mean a higher waist? They don't appear that much higher than normal.

Thank you for the detailed reply, Ellastica!

I have already checked the label, it is indeed different from the ones which are being produced today and I even went to the Benetton store to ask for help, but they were clueless. They don't designate the seasons on their labels, unfortunately.

I was also thinking of writing them an e-mail which I will surely do after your reply.

Thanks again!

I don't know about the label unfortunately.

on a different note, generally truth does not go well with precision. it is often remote from certainty. for its mother may be beauty. so, especially when money is involved, there appears an earnest demand for the expression grounded in words rather than on the object. like a legend, where the object degenerates into an illustration for the story. in that world, beauty is credit. you can pass through the gate and climb up the ladder useful but meaningless which you are to throw away afterward.
even a piece of art has its earthly standing, its limitations. it is a trick that it can have an infinit value. if a great work does nothing to your naked eye, it is as good as an oversized garbage. conversely it is possible for something simply trashy to reveal something gemmy for your eyes only. it is not the seen but the seer that really has a predominance, which is cruel to the creator laid bare without any information told to the audience beforehand. but it's the fragility that makes it precious. the limits generate value.

anyway let's make this a thread for mens shirts?

^^^ That’s a wonderfully and romantically expressed sentiment.

But it’s just a white shirt ultimately. Which isn’t to say I don't swear and live— and likely will die by Tom's and Thom’s white oxford shirts. Can never own enough of their versions. And a well-made/constructed white shirt that flatters a men’s body is sexier than any kinkwear can dare hope to do.

(BTW, to the OP: The brand Gold Foxx is from Turkey. It’s just another countless and nameless brand out there that likely attempts to court the ME market with fastfashion’s version of Saville Row bespoke that is hugely coveted by the ME market. If you’re hoping to have stumbled upon a goldmine and resell it for a small fortune— it’s not and will not, unfortunately. But with a name like “Gold Foxx”, what would you expecting???)

does anyone know where I could find these bottoms or similar?? Preferably not cycling shorts but actual long trousers/pants. I am obsessed but can't find anything similar. The image is from ELLE France 18th April 1988, and the feature titled 'Les Cotons Acidules De L'Ete'. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I'm looking for this Rick Owens Fox Collar Stooges jacket (or just the collar) from his Fall/Winter 2007 season in any size. I know it's a long shot given how old it is but any leads would be appreciated!

Then I weared it on my neck and undressed my former clothes, it was surprisingly confortable and light, and it didn't let people see trough it, I love to dance and I think this is a very good fashion for avant garde straight men...

What are the lightest best skirts for this effect? Can you help me find a cheap skirt online that doesn't shine and doesn't let you see trough it? to wear it as a poncho or something.

I have three daughters, and I want to buy them some new dresses. We attend lots of family gatherings, and they always end up wearing the same dresses over and over again. Where can I get really good quality girl party dresses? Please let me know.
