so- i have been thinking and thinking and thinking about how to cut my kimonos from my tokyo trip...

and i have finally realized that i am going to have to cut at least one of them really quite short and add a belt...
probably the sleeves will be longer than the jacket...
and the kimono will look like it has a peplum once it is belted...

i am quite surprised to realize this...
but i think it is the right thing to do...
even though it is not at all what i thought about when i bought the pieces...

of course- then i have to figure out what to do with the rest of the fabric...
skirt seems the obvious answer...
but that is definitely not the answer...
hmmm...

chop chop chop...
gonna cut a kimono in pieces...
this should be interesting...
:ninja:...

still can't bring myself to cut a kimono...
so crazy~!

i did wash and shrink a scarf- wool and lurex...
the wool shrank but the lurex didn't-- creating a bumpy sort of texture...
it almost looks like some rough skin of a large reptile or insect...
it's good...i will wear...
^_^

so-
i stitched pom poms that i made onto two knit caps my mom made...
then i made a white fox fur pom pom from some fur scraps left over from my fur jacket alteration and sewed that onto an ivory cashmere knit cap...

cuteness...
^_^

got some joggers last season...
thought about sewing some satin ribbon along the outer seam to make them sort of like tuxedo pants...
i have a pair from sacai that are like this that i wear to death, so it seemed like a good plan...

turns out to be more complicated than i thought...

then-
i found some metallic charcoal grey screen printing paint...!!!
taped out the seams of the joggers and painted stripe...
results are excellent...
dark metallic charcoal on dark navy joggers...
love them!!

what to paint next...?!?!?!?!?
:shifty:...

:bounce:

oh- and i also used that paint on some tan suede Birkenstocks i own...
also, with excellent results...

yattah!

cut fingertips off a pr of blk suede gloves w/fringe...

so good...
has me wondering why i didn't' do that years ago?!
lol

I'm doing 4 at the moment! Can't wait to post those.

I'm recycling what was once a designer skirt/dress. I was a model back in the day and was paid in clothing often. I had this amazing skirt/dress from a up and coming designer that I loved but she had a thing for extremely skinny models... I could barely fit in it when I was a 34EU. Now as a size 36EU it was almost impossible to wear it. So I decided, to hell with it! I cut it. Made a strapless top and I'm now trying to make something out of the bottom part (maybe a skirt). I'll post it as soon as I finish it. :flower:

I'm also recycling a black denim jacket I bought for 4€ in a thrift shop. I'll make a battle vest out of it to use solo or over my leather biker jacket.

I'm also upcycling a pair of organic cotton jeans that fit me kind of tight. I might go for a cut out look, let's see.

I also saw this super ugly fake-feminist jeans (it said grl pwr, so sad) on sale for 8€ (also 100% organic cotton) at Monki and decided to buy those and try to remove the embroidery without damaging the fabric. I'm succeeding! Love the fitting of those jeans.

so-
I always wanted a pair of studded birks...
after I had painted these, I remembered that I had a small bag of studs in my sewing supplies...
I had just enough to stud the birks..
^_^

I glued and hammered them on, distressing the studs as I went along so they looked even cooler...
I really bashed them...
:P

it was fun, they look great and I wear them all the time!!!
woohoo!

I gifted one of the pom pom ski caps to @BerlinRocks...
he's French and really knows how to work an accessory...
now I know how designers feel when they say the best feeling is seeing someone wear their work...
it really does feel pretty great~!

Hey, I have this hoodie that I'm attached to and has quite a nice print on it. But the pattern and the quality is so bad that I'm never wearing it. Does anyone have an idea what I can do with it? The hoodie is black with a print on the front and back.
I'm thinking about sewing the print onto a hoodie blank. But I don't think that's the best option.

i would suggest looking at some junya watanabe for inspo...
he is the best at reworking printed knits, imho...

i am about to sew together two cashmere sweaters that I cut up into one new sweater...
wish me luck...LOL...

so- i couldn't handle cutting the kimono but i did try to wash one and it is so wrecked that i think i can cut it now...lol...
the thread shrank but the silk didn't and it's a mess...
i will take off the sleeves and make a vest...
let's see how this goes...

:stuart:...

:innocent:

^^^ Oh no— don’t chop off the sleeves…

Could you gather all that fabric into a puffy sleeve— even short one, like some version of a Comme design? Turn the classic kimono into some Comme/Margiela wrap dress with puffy sleeve hybrid.
