Emanuele Farneti Departs Vogue Italia as EIC

I agree that Vanessa's articles are generally lacking depths and substances when comparing with Horyn. But back in the days, critics like Suzy Menkes and Cathy Horyn were holding some authorities and designers paid attention to their opinions. I doubt if designers still care about Vanessa's or other critics opinion nowadays, but I do miss the days when critics spoke some truths even they play their favourites. We need fashion editors and please don't forget that we also need fashion critics with integrities!

Yes totally agree, the landscape is so different now, i think still is important to have critics to say good and bad things about collections but the power critics have is reduced even less than Fashion Editors imo, because brands speaks directly to their consumers and as a business as it is, they just want to sell more than make a fashion revolution. I like to read read Angelo Flaccavento critics, you can sense his point of view and still he critics big names like Prada, etc.

Now I know what Farneti meant

Farneti just announced he's joining Gedi (an Italian publisher) as fashion and beauty editor-in-chief:

^^^ None of that matters in this current era.

He just has to come up with the social/political gimmick of the week on a “diverse and inclusive” cast, shot by current-era cool kidz with absolutely no photographic knowledge and skills, with styling and makeup that resembles a 7yo playing dressup, and he’s set to ruin another publication collective.

I don't want to be mean, but he deserves TV Guide. He buried Franca's legacy.
