i saw that light / mirror installation at the whitney biennial in 2004, and it blew me away.

it was the most fantastic piece of art i have ever seen in person. you wait for your turn and they let you into the closed room by yourself and you are almost standing on water and have a billion lights and mirrors shining at you. my description does it injustice, but trust me it was the coolest experiential piece i'd ever seen.

in fact, i think the whitney liked it so much, they bought it from her after the exhibit. i wished they would bring it out of storage and show it once in a while.

if anyone is in new york, there is an exhibit of hers in chelsea going on right now. there were a couple pieces i really wanted to buy related to the mirror and ball idea, but they were both sold already.

does anyone know if she is still in a mental institution? i hope she is well and very happy because she is a genius.

^ chichu art museum in naoshima.

I've been planning to go there for the triennale :ninja:, but who knows.. I kind of just want to see nice things and water , but not the summer tourists..

thanks MP~!
:flower:

sounds like it would be a great time to visit...
even if there are loads of tourists, you gotta think that they are basically going to be cool if they are there for that sort of event...

i saw pics of someone i know on instagram visiting...
he lives/works in tokyo and has been going on amazing weekend trips...
i think it would be amazing to go there...

i saw some smaller pumpkins at a show in chelsea and they made me so happy...
i had an overwhelming urge to hug them...
