i saw that light / mirror installation at the whitney biennial in 2004, and it blew me away.
it was the most fantastic piece of art i have ever seen in person. you wait for your turn and they let you into the closed room by yourself and you are almost standing on water and have a billion lights and mirrors shining at you. my description does it injustice, but trust me it was the coolest experiential piece i'd ever seen.
in fact, i think the whitney liked it so much, they bought it from her after the exhibit. i wished they would bring it out of storage and show it once in a while.
if anyone is in new york, there is an exhibit of hers in chelsea going on right now. there were a couple pieces i really wanted to buy related to the mirror and ball idea, but they were both sold already.
does anyone know if she is still in a mental institution? i hope she is well and very happy because she is a genius.
