Burberry 'Hero' Fragrance 2021 : Adam Driver by Mario Sorrenti

No thanks. Adam is a perfect example of height privilege.
His height is what makes him sexy for the masses. Not his body (which any man can get) and no his face. Why him? There are so many famous Brits right now.

The images are corny in a Mills & Boon way which makes sense because perfume buyers very often are oblivious of the actual fashion brand. This campaign is not aimed at us.

Funny how he’s the face of a fragrance called Hero, granted he played the main Villain of the Star Wars series :stuart:

Although I agree his overall size/height certainly helps him, I think people find him attractive because of his unconventional looks, not in spite of them. He gives off a sense of “this guy could be dangerous and could totally protect me if it came down to it, but he’s actually super interesting and sweet” versus just “this is a hot pretty boy movie star” vibes.

Or maybe that’s just me.

Either way, I agree the campaign is corny.

Generic, a bit perverted (why is the horse and him are edited in such a sensual, borderline sexual sequence?), and the concept is so weak. Horse, man, horsepower, strong, veins on a horse, muscles on a man, half-naked, blah-blah.

He is a handsome man, no doubt, and I'd take him over any 'pretty' male model any day, because I prefer interesting faces to the cookie-cutter fitness-trainer-looking top models with good bodies that we have.

That said, wow, the fragrance market seems so bland. It really is the time to shake up its advertising, such films, with men or women both, just don't work. I know people were outraged by Michele's 'ugly beauty' campaigns for the Gucci beauty line, but those are miles ahead of this yawn-inducing repetition of conventional attractiveness, those at least made me feel!

It’s not very bad for Burberry…
The promise of the campaign is strong and aquatic notes. I hope that’s what will end up in the bottle.

It’s a departure from what we have been used to from Burberry and why not? I’m not sure on the bottle tho. It’s quite boring…

I know Burberry is kinda supposed to be boring in a way, but it’s not even cute or timeless….Maybe that horrible Helvetica.

Crop his face and you'll have a perfect erotic novel cover.

I've never like his scents at Givenchy so I doubt I'll like this. Especially when the bottle looks like those drugstore cheap perfume. Even Jo Malone x Zara have better bottle.

The image is corny AF and I feel bad for that poor horse
underwater imagery like in the video would have been so much better imo...

I don't know if it's intended to be funny...but it's funny. Not that Adam Driver isn't sexy in an unconventional way but his acting makes him hot moreso than his features. Anyways, I don't know if it was intended to be an ironic campaign...

Adam Driver looks amazing here and he has proved before that he too can shine in print. that Interview cover and editorial come to mind and for W too.

I love that they went for him, which can be kind of unusual and that’s why I like it.

plus, he’s a terrific actor IMO so congrats to him.
it actually makes me curious about the fragrance…

It's not bad. But Tisci's Burberry means nothing. There's no message. There's no consistent identity...it's all just stuff. Meaningless stuff. I don't believe in his universe for Burberry.

And like I say in every thread here on this site for his collections and campaigns...there's absolutely nothing "British" about this. Burberry serves no purpose in the market other than selling Britishness. You take that out of the equation, and I'm really at a loss as to what is left that's compelling at all about this brand.

Burberry used to be Kate Moss and Liberty Ross, Stella Tennant, Agyness Deyn, Lily Donaldson...Brits. Now we've got American celebrities. Oh well...that's the way the world goes now.

Some of these comments are just wild.
Adam Driver is not who I ever thought would be the face of a Burberry fragrance campaign,
but here we are, and the results are GLORIOUS. I've always loved the beauty of his strong masculine face,
and his sex appeal has never been showcased as potently, as in these pictures. Pairing him with a horse, was a
stroke of genius.:heart: The timing of this campaign couldn't be more perfect, with Adam having two buzz worthy films dropping over the next few months
I suspect we'll be seeing a lot more of him, sans horse. I've never once cared about a Burberry fragrance, but this one makes me want to at least smell it.

The whole concept of the campaign is very erotic-novel-aimed-at-sexually-frustrated-Walmart-clients. The sunset, the beach, the shirtless man and the horse...who are they hiring to come up with this?

I'm in the camp that thinks Adam Driver is attractive, he's funny, approachable (but not trying to seem like he has air for brains á la Jennifer Lawrence) and unique looking. He deserved better.

The most british thing Tisci has done is collaborate with Westwood to whom britishness is second nature, makes one dream...

Sorry but Adam Driver is just not high fashion material and never will be.

He can collaborate with Kanye, his 'friend'

It's the power couple we deserve!

He thinks he's Tom Cruise circa Magnolia.
He will never be Tom Cruise cause Tom Cruise has never been hot. Men who look like boy band members are so terribly boring..

This looks good to me.. the shot of him pulling the horse's hair is hilarious but I guess it's the equivalent of women going through the kama sutra for 'pose' inspiration in advertisements lol.

I agree there are hotter Brits right now, like Rege-Jean Page, but the fact that he doesn't even have a thread here makes you realise it's probably not their moment yet.

Everyone can turn their noses up at this midrange-drugstore campaign all they want, but not ashamed at all to admit Adam looks like pure sex. That massive chest of his is good enough for me— that, and he’s an ex Navy SEAL. He’s the type of guy that if he didn’t have that powerful body, he wouldn’t work at all. So this is an incentive for men everywhere to work on your body— cuz your average face will improve to above-average if you just put the work into your body.

(Can’t say I’ve watched many his films since he’s always been guilty-by-association with that insufferable Lena Dunham and her even more insufferable show. The only films of his I’ve sen and enjoyed are Silence and Lucky Logan. He does have talent unlike so many of the hyped Hollywood hyped types :cough:Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio:cough:…)
