"her music is haunting" Selma Blair/INTERVIEW MAGAZINE

"A Fine Frenzy is a blend of sounds and influences. Where there's Ella, Aretha and Louis, there's also Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Aqualung and Keane" HARP Magazine

A Fine Frenzy is the music of 22 year-old Alison Sudol.

Born in Seattle to dramatic-arts teacher parents, Alison moved to Los Angeles at the age five. With her newly single mother, Alison moved frequently around the city. She developed a strong love for the fantastic literary worlds of CS Lewis, EB White, Lewis Carroll and Charles Dickens, while becoming a passionate author in her own right.

Alison also immersed herself in classical music, Motown, Aretha Franklin, swing bands, Ella Fitzgerald, Elton John, Louis Armstrong, the Beatles, Technicolor movies and classic 1950's television.

After teaching herself to play piano, Alison increasingly invested her internal narratives into song form. She found solace in the melodic melancholia of new global British bands Aqualung, Radiohead, Coldplay and Keane, etc... She was also moved by the diatonic minimalism of Philip Glass and the transportive allure of Icelandic music (Bjork, Sigur Ros.) Inspired, Alison developed the sound of A Fine Frenzy - hypnotic piano arrangements under classic American melody fused into irresistible, atmospheric songs with the power to reach around the world.

I just realized she's going to be in Boston with Brandi Carlile :smile:heart:smile: on October 5th :buzz:

now I'm trying to make my sister (and maybe a couple cousins) like them both so that I won't have to go alone :shifty:

Very pretty red-head! I don't enjoy her music so much, but she is gorgeous.

I love her hair and just bought her album today-I don't know if I'll like it too much. There's a fine balance between whimsical and boring.

I didn't know A Fine Frenzy had a thread here!!! I adore their music...and Alison's voice is so captivating.

I love A Fine Frenzy, definately one of my favorite bands

I thought Alison was a solo artist going under the name A Fine Frenzy?

I know Aqualung is the same way-for the longest time I thought it was a whole band, but it turned out to be a single guy under the name of what is normally a band.

Why doesn't she get more coverage? I listened to "Almost Lover" and was blownnnnnnnnn away. She really looks alot like the contestant from ANTM. Forgot her name. The one who had a temper tantrum at the cab driver.

She is def. WAYYY undercovered.

Finally we have someone who's actually a musical artist, opposed to those "singers" who churn out quick hits.

Her voice is captivating and haunting. I've listened closely to her lyrics and her song-writing abilities are amazing.

i liked her a lot when i first discovered her but i feel like i got bored with her CD rather quickly..

i don't know if it lacked depth for me or if the songs just sounded to similar..

she's going to be in Boston in March though...
i think i might go see her..

I absolutely love "Almost Lover". The rest of her songs, at least what I've heard so far, didn't seem as exciting, but they're pretty nonetheless. Her voice is just lovely!

Ooohh. I adore this girl! I first saw her on CSI New York and I was completely blown away!:woot: Her voice is lovely and her song 'Almost Lover' is so sad!:(

I absolutely love her. I bought her album last winter and I'm still not bored of it yet, I listen to her a lot.
