Arnaud de Rosnay (1946-1984) is an entrepeneur, fashion photographer, adventurer and athlete (surfer). He was a Paris aristocrat with an adventurous spirit and heir of a Mauritian sugar fortune (ref outside magazine, 2006).
He did extensive work for Vogue magazine in the 1960s. I have noticed him for his exquisite work with Marisa Berenson for Vogue during the Vreeland years. Unfortunately for the fashion lover, AdR went on to nature photography including surfer photography (he was a passionate surfer).
In the last few years of his life, he successfully surfted from Miami to Cuba and across the Bering Strait to Siberia, only to finally succumb on his surfing exploration from Taiwan to China. His body was never found, and he left his wife, model and surfer Jenna, and 9 month old daughter behind.
This is a sample of his work from Vogue 1968 featuring Marisa Berenson.
1) American Vogue January 1st 1968.
2) American Vogue August 1st 1967.
