I know there is a thread designated for books already being made into films and general discussion, but what book would you like to be made into a film?

For me it would have to be a modern version of Agatha Chrisies 'And Then There Were None'. While it has been made in the past, it was the 1960s! I would love to see this book in the 21st century cinema. It could be a great psychological thriller. It revolves around 10 people summoned to an island by a mysterious host who turns out not to exist...and each person ends by dying one by one by this nursery rhyme:

Ten Little Indian Boys Went Out To Dine
One Choked His Little Self And Then There Were Nine

Nine Little Indian Boys Sat Up Very Late
One Overslept Himself And Then There Were Eight

Eight Little Indian Boys Traveling In Devon
One Said He'd Stay There And Then There Were Seven

Seven Little Indian Boys Chopping Up Sticks
One Chopped Himself In Halves And Then There Were Six

Six Little Indian Boys Playing With A Hive
A Bubblebee Stung One And Then There Were Five

Five Little Indian Boys Going In For Law
One Got In Chancery And Then There Were Four

Four Little Indian Boys Going Out TO Sea
A Red Herring Swallowed One And Then There Were Three

Three Little Indian Boys Walking In The Zoo
A Big Bear Hugged One And Then There Were Two

Two Little Indian Boys Sitting In The Sun
One Got Frizzled Up And Then There Were One

One Little Indian Boy Left All Alone
He Went And Hanged Himself ANd Then There Were None

It would be amazing. It could be a great psyschological thriller.

Well I for one would love if... Diary by Chuck Palahniuk was made into a book. ^_^

I have awful memories of watching 'And then there were none' when I was very young... from then on nursery rhymes always taunted.

The Bell Jar. I think it actually was made into a movie quite some time ago, but a new, updated version has the potential to be amazing.

Great thread idea, but I don't read enough to contribute to this thread.

In The Middle of the Night, by Robert Cormier. It's so suspensful and just made for a movie.

Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen. So fascinating, vibrant, and colorful.

All the books I want to be made into movies are being made into movies!

Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut. It should be a really thought-provoking and funny movie.

Just read Gramercy Park by Paula Cohen. That would make an interesting movie!

Blonde by Joyce Carol Oates. For those who don't know it is a fictionalized novel about Marilyn Monroe. There is a mini series based on that book but I would love to see a movie about it too. And I would love to see a movie about Marilyn Monroe based on the truth too. Made for the big screen and not television. I agree about the books Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath and And then there were none by Agatha Christie. The other books mentioned I haven't read.

The Bridge of San Louis Ray by Thorton Wilder. It was made into a (I believe) movie channel original movie, but it could be so much more. It has the potential to be much more than a story, more of plot tying together philosophical experimentation of cause and effect.

Oh no, I think The Bell Jar is far too depressing to be made into a movie, it's almost Prozac Nation-like.

The Stolen Child, A Great And Terrible Beauty, My Sister's Keeper, The Amulet Of Samarkand.

ETA: Island Of The Blue Dolphins. It's a children's book but I love it so much.

^Another Great and Terrible Beauty fan! I also agree about My Sister's Keeper, although I can easily see it being made into some really crappy version of the book for a Lifetime movie. :yuk:
