Hi! I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to distress a t-shirt. I have some that I want to make look old and a lot more worn in. Any ideas besides washing them a lot? Thank you!

to distress sleeves or hems I use a sandpaper (well I actually used a foot paddle that is used for sloughing dead skin) and rubbed it gently on the hems until they started to tear and I got them where I wanted them

Hi! I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to distress a t-shirt.

Let me get it for a few days. I take my clothes to the junkyards and they come out so legit. Nothing says legitimate patina like transmission fluid. I'm kind of patch working my destroyed jeans into Franken-jeans now using pieces of old t-shirts as well. Just wear them a lot, over wash them, get some cigarette burns, etc.

should ask someone who works in film and theatre /costumes

i had to do this in my courses
sandpaper is wonderful because it's not too severe right away and you have a lot more control

we also paint it to look old
there are patinas in dyes and paints
