could be good for tweens and young teens...
J.C. Penney Co. wants to spruce up its dowdy image. To help it regain favor with hip female shoppers, the mid-market department store has struck an improbable deal with upscale fashion designer Nanette Lepore. Known for her whimsical womenswear, the designer will launch an exclusive line for teens there next year.
The collection, called L'Amour by Nanette Lepore, will debut in February of 2013 and range in price from $30 to $60, a far cry from the $300 dresses the New York-based designer typically sells.
“I've always wanted to do a juniors line, but the price point is not something I've been able to do with the way I'm structured,” said Ms. Lepore, noting that this is her first partnership with a retailer. Inspired by her high-school aged daughter Violet, Ms. Lepore created a line that will include silk-screened t-shirts, washed denim jackets and frilly prom dresses. (crainsnewyork)
