Madonna fell off her horse while horseback riding in the Hamptons this afternoon and was taken to a local hospital.

The Material Mom's injuries were not considered serious, the NY Post is reporting, but she was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

Madonna was at the home of photographer Steven Klein at the time, according to the paper. She was reportedly wearing full riding gear, including a helmet, when she fell.

Back in 2005, Madonna fell while riding in London on her birthday -- she suffered several broken bones.
UPDATE -- Madonna's camp blames the whole incident on a paparazzo. Her rep released a statement that says, "Madonna who was thrown off a horse earlier today has just been released from Southampton Hospital with minor injuries and bruises ... The accident occurred when the horse Madonna was riding was startled by paparazzi who jumped out of the bushes to photograph the singer who was visiting friends on Eastern Long Island over the weekend. Madonna will be having further tests and continues to remain under observation by doctors."

TMZ.com was the source for this, although I just read about it first from Demi Moore's Twitter acct, http://twitter.com/mrskutcher

Madonna Falls Off The Horse

Madonna was taken to a hospital on Saturday after falling off a horse at the home of photog pal Steven Klein in New York’s South Hampton.
“The accident occurred when the horse Madonna was riding was startled by paparazzi who jumped out of the bushes to photograph the singer, who was visiting friends on Eastern Long Island over the weekend,” her rep Liz Rosenberg said in a statement to Us Weekly. “Madonna will be having further tests and will continue to remain under observation by doctors.”
Earlier today, the pair was spotted leaving a Kabbalah Center in Manhattan.
Get well soon, Madge!
UPDATE: Madonna’s manager Guy Oseary adds, “Madonna’s accident today was caused by the paparazzi. They spooked the horse she was riding. These guys don’t know when to stop!!”

Very much so. A 1200 pound animal (minimum weight for the horse she was riding) throwing you could break many bones depending on the surface you land upon and there's always a possibility the horse itself could have fallen over on top of her or when backing away step or trample on her. I've fallen off my horse a couple times, and I ride the big draft horses! Belgians that weigh 2000 pounds! Horse falls can be very very traumatic, thankfully Madonna wore a helmet and will be fine.

Back in the saddle: Madonna races to the gym just five days after horse-riding accident

Only days ago, Madonna was left hospitalised after being thrown from her horse during a riding session in New York.
After taking a few days off her gruelling gym schedule to recuperate from the accident, it appears the Material Girl can't wait to resume her daily workout sessions.

Her trainer Tracy Anderson said the pop star is determined to get back in the gym on Wednesday - just five days after her fall.

Tracy told UsMagazine.com: 'She's going to be fine. She fell on her butt. She's fine.
'We're going to train tomorrow.'
Tracy and Madonna work out together for two hours a day, six days a week.

Meanwhile, police who investigated the incident denied claims by Madonna that a photographer had caused the accident.
The 50-year-old was hospitalised on Saturday with minor injuries and bruises after falling off her horse at the Hamptons estate owned by celebrity photographer Steven Klein.
She discharged herself later that day and has been resting at the upstate New York home of her friend Gwyneth Paltrow.

Her spokesperson Liz Rosenberg claimed the horse was 'startled by paparazzi by jumping out of the bushes'.
However, a police report said the singer did not report the supposed involvement of a photographer.
Sgt Herbert Johnson of Southampton Village Police Department told TMZ.com: 'There is no mention of photographers. It's a matter of spin control that went out of control.

'If they felt there was something else, they would have written "paparazzi" in the form - if they felt there was a problem.'
Photographer Thomas Hinton said he took photos of the singer before and after the accident, but was too far away to have spooked the horse.
He said: 'As far as I'm concerned, the only photographer present when the accident happened was Steven Klein.
'If a photographer startled a horse, I'm thinking we would have seen the pictures by now.
'That would be such an egregious thing to do, to trespass and startle a horse. The police would have been looking for a photographer.'
Her manager Guy Oseary hit out at the paparazzi on his Twitter micro-blogging page, writing: 'These guys just don't know when to stop,' which was repeated on her friend Demi Moore's Twitter page.
The weekend's accident came four years after she cracked three ribs and broke a collar bone and her hand in a riding fall in England on her 47th birthday.
News of Madonna's fall reached her Hamptons neighbour Billy Joel, who warned the singer about the dangers of the equestrian sport.
He said: 'Madonna fell off a horse? She should stay off of those horses. This isn't the Wild West.'
