New York Fall 05 Show Schedule

i feel like fashion week has lost it's cool- it's becoming another celebrity-turned-hyphenate free for all... money/fame can't buy class... maybe they should go underground.... the secret untelevised underworld collections... does anyone remember when you had to pay like $75 - $150 to buy a mag of the collections? before there was ft & e? i guess i liked the exclusivity of it all. maybe that's why we all like to discover the new indies so much?

Jennifer Lopez has a show? Has she shown before?

I believe it was announced in the latest Vogue( with her on the cover) that she signed up to do her first show..I wonder what it's going to be like?
I do wish her luck..it's a harsh world out there:(

Also, As an aspiring individual who wants to be in fashion (marketing) how do I sign up to volunteer at a fashion show?
Is it too late?
Thanks for your help

So usually you have to be invited by the designer personally to attend a show, but are there any other ways to get in? I've always wanted to go to one.

I have no idea. You technically need to have invites to be "well seated", but I guess some shows allows people to come in "freely", but you'll have to be standing and you won't be "near" the stage.

I also heard some designers did double presentations!?!?!?! Like they show it once at a certain time (where people from everywhere can come in) and one that's more exclusive with celebrities and all. Is this true what I am saying!?

MizBlue you can contact 7th on Sixth about volunteering, but I heard many of the slots go to students at schools in the nyc area (Parsons, Pratt, FIT, etc).

I went to a few shows last February (FW04)...I wrote the PR companies of the designers and told them I was a student in SF and was working on my thesis (which is a magazine; I wanted to write an article on the shows for it). You can also show up at the tents/location, make nice with security, or talk to the PR people. I got a ticket to Marc Jacobs last year by talking to a PR person who was holding the tickets. One of the people didn't show up, and I got to go in with her. Of course I was waaaaaayyyyy in the back (standing room), but that's ok. It was a great show (and wonderful for star-watching).

Kimkhuu Some designers do multiple presentations...Donna Karan is showing at 3pm and 4:30 on Friday 2/11 and Ralph Lauren is showing at 9am, 10am, and 11am.

I heard J. Lo is producing an "upscale" line. Perhaps she may be showing tidbits from that collection. Otherwise, what's the point.

scott thanks for the updated schedule!!

mizblue go to 7thonsixth.com, they have phone numbers/email addresses there.

You're welcome,Kimair! I had to check there as they always post all of the collections being presented.

And thankfully, the only designer's still missing is Rachel Comey & Libertine. Tess & Patrik are still showing..yeaaaa!!

Oh dear, her show is gonna be super scary. :ninja:
she should make it a total ego trip.
forget her own "designs," and make up the models to look exactly like her and dress them up in outfits straight from out of her own closet... a little versace, a little junya watanabe...

after all, it is a "j.lo" fashion show... :ninja:

When model_mom and I went to the shows, we saw several people asking the security guards about standing room only spots and they even let some people in at the very last minute. It is not a for sure bet, but we did meet someone that they just let in because they asked. Remember though, it was standing behind the seats (which is where model_mom and I were for this particular show). We still had an okay view.:flower:
