^ such an amazing image for a cover.. it would be striking even today. The angle, the colors, the model, the 'skimpy' outfit (could any current Vogue handle the 2023 equivalent of that? lol) in the middle of war and in the middle of winter, and the hands, as in all of the pictures from back then, the models were not just standing there, they were modeling even through their fingers, 100% ballet mode.

Kind of wonder what will this decades-long era be called in like a hundred years, when we couldn't stop reminiscing and recreating things from the past :grinningwsweat:.. if you look at all of these images, they were proud and adventurous and zero apologetic of their present, and never like 'aw, the beautiful women from the 1920s, that WAS really something!' or 'yeah the 40s are cool, but not as cool as the Victorian Days'. It's kind of wild that when Vogue wants to present someone with 'glamour' now, they go 1940s.
