Born in Livingston, New Jersey, to a Jewish father and a Mormon mother, Chelsea Handler is the youngest of six children...all of which practically guarantees a successful career in comedy.
As one of the nation's fastest-rising female stand-ups, blending fearless honesty, ironic riffs and self-deprecation, Chelsea has performed before sold-out audiences at venues and festivals around the world, including the Montreal Comedy Festival and HBO's U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. Last March, her first half-hour stand-up special on Comedy Central was a ratings hit.
Chelsea was the star of Oxygen's Girls Behaving Badly—now syndicated in more than 90 markets—for all of its four seasons, and starred in The Chelsea Handler Show on E!. She has costarred in several independent films, including Steamroom and National Lampoon's Cattle Call, and has made guest appearances on Comedy Central's Reno 911!, ABC's My Wife and Kids, Fox's The Bernie Mac Show and David E. Kelley's The Practice.
She has also appeared in several pilots, including FX's Are You Scurred?, Showtime's Love on the Run and VH1's Dirty Famous, and is a regular commentator on numerous specials for E! Entertainment, VH1, MSNBC's Scarborough Country and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Chelsea's first book, My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands, published by Bloomsbury, was recently released in the U.S. and more than 20 other countries. Her follow-up book, Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea, is set to be published in 2008.
