The perfect white shirt is so hard to find, IMO. A great cut and fit can make you look so stylish, but I find it hard to find a good fit.

I have a Helmut Lang one which I adore, but I'm interested in cheaper alternatives. Any suggestions?

It's a little too conceptual for me to wear but I thoroughly enjoy seeing it on Susie.B. Have anyone tried out the +J collection shirts? How good is it?

well...
i just found something that screams at me...
very possibly the perfect white shirt for me...
tiny collar (NOT peter pan)...
puff sleeved- but on the bottom, not at the shoulder (which i cannot do)...
raglan sleeve- simply the best shoulder line for me...
boxy enough to be worn out but short enough to tuck or belt...

I washed it by hand today with bleach and detergent, along with a brush. Some came off but it is not exactly pristine...
I soaked it too.

I have the same shirt but short sleeve and it cleans itself pretty easily just in the washing machine which is weird.
Same fabric. I think it's called piqué

soak it in oxyclean...that stuff is like magic...

Thanks I looked the same day you posted this
There were so many Oxy products at the store. But one did mention dingy whites
In the end I did not get it yet because it said for machine-washed clothes only
And the time I spent reading on it I found a way to remove the marks or whatever it is with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide
I would say 99% pure white now =) May be how I did it tho

^ Hydrogen peroxide is definitely a good bleach. However, you have to be a bit careful because it can also eat away at fabrics ...

watching the YY show today I was struck by all the white shirts and there is something drawing me to them...

i used to get annoyed because yohji always styled his looks with white shirts and even in the stores, there were not a lot of other top options...


but i am suddenly inspired to wear white shirts for some reason...


today i wound up wearing a really oversized Yohji shirt i got awhile back but didn't wear much at all...
i think that its day in the sun has finally come...

my perfect "white shirt" would be closer to cream and most definitely a natural fabric - preferably cotton or linen (I have one I absolutely love from Kate Moss's Equipment line, with long sleeves and buttons shaped like studs, but it suffers from the problem of getting absolutely wrecked with sweat every time I swear it because the fabric tends to fall closer to the body. It's also sheer but I can live with that, just wear a waistcoat or put a jacket over it).
