i thought he well deserves a thread.
i like how he always is close to his subject but still keeps a distance...
he has (along with tilmans and others)shaped a new aesthetics of unpretentious fashion photography... i think he has a found a good balance between commercial and personal work.
his new marc jacobs advertisings with cindy sherman, for example, are outstanding i think...
i do not like everything by him but still some of my very favourite images were captured by his lense, so...
tadah...thoughts?

exactly that, unpretentious... yet somehow glamorous (his fashion work), never boring because i consider he manages to capture the realness of the situations and/or subjects :flower:

good jurgen pics and thread. i remember been really taken by those sofia coppola marc jacobs ads. he is really influential...i think NYLON is an example of this. he's to the late early 21st century what glossy photography was to the 80's. when did he start working?

well in the late eighties i think...he did a lot of work for lp/cd covers and such at first....you probably know his early nirvana tour shoots from about 1990/91....and then slowly the whole look got into fashion (or shall i say faaast:lol:)

hm..i didn't know that. it makes sense. did he influence corrine day?

i remember this spread for the süddeutsche zeitung (regular daily paper)
was the first of his fashion shoots that i noticed...i still have that:

1996
the front cover of sueddeusche zeitung featuring the nude
kristen mc menamy marked teller’s entrance on the scene:
a no-frills shot showing the bare physicality of the naked human
body. in a blurred mix of criticism and self-praise,
teller seems intended to present the subtle ambiguous basis,
the swirling vacuum on which the fashion industry is based.

of course it was not the front cover:lol:

puuh, maybe, i don't know. they do have a similar style but then i guess their fashion stories became famous at the same time so...maybe it was in the air?

yeah definately. although jurgen's stuff is stripped down..it is so stripped down "blown out" that the effect is very nostalgic and precious..which is why i both like his work and then kinda feel like it can get too much.

I think henis great. His photo's have alot of sensitivity and attitude:heart:

There were more pictures but they are on another computer and not online.
