the original basta pasta that used to be around harajuku in the 80's is no more. I had never gone there though, there is still good reputation left and heard of once in a while. so it may be legend rather than reputation, even if part of it smells a bit like hype, especially considering the combo of the 80's and harajuku. but I think the NY one must really be good because it would hardly have been there for over 25 years otherwise.

visited the nya site and it seems that what they have at the moment are the alphabet broach, the big button badge, and the emblem. so perhaps a DIY nya face pin out of the emblem is not impossible.

but i agree that it must have something to stay around for so long...

i guess you are right about the DIY...
but there is something about the embroidery that turns me off...
i guess i could try to convince myself that it represents fur, but i don't think it would work...
i'd prefer it were some solid fabric or other material...
if i am motivated enough, i suppose i could really try to make one from scratch...
shouldn't be impossible...

and doitashimashite, glad you like it and that apparently theirs is not the very creamy type that could be the mainstream these days. it also may be good in its own way, but in the early 80's when the cod roe spaghetti was getting popular like your sister would make it for someone's birthday party, it was not so creamy. if anything, it was something on the fresh and light side, with shiso and a bit of lemon juice. I'd say you hardly see them use shiso that generously over here today, even if you might sometimes see the heap of shredded nori on it. definitely rare 80's style, the one in your pic.

i wore these over the weekend in my tao biker boots...
even though you could not see them, they were amazing~!

the furriness made my feet feel like they were wrapped in warm clouds and with the japanese mouton gel shoe insert i have in the boots, my whole foot was padded with furry softness....
