Washing clothes - persistent odors

I just scored a vintage leather jacket but it smells very strongly of mothballs!
Any idea how to get rid of this smell, since I can't wash a leather jacket??

^ :lol: If it doesn't remove the odor, you can always drink it!

Baking soda in the wash works for me on most fabrics. :flower:

Yes, that's what I've always used, and Arm & Hammer now makes washing soda, which has a more granular texture--not sure what the difference is, maybe I should read my box :rolleyes: Works great. What I use it for is when something sours ...

But I agree, I think the ultimate solution is to stop ironing the t-shirts :lol:

I've been struggling for DAYS to get rid of this odor in my jacket, the tag says 100% silk and it's giving me a hell of a time to remove it, I took it to the dry cleaner and it still smelled.. so I figured their service was just bad. I came to this thread and followed softgrey's advice and put it out in the sun for a couple hours over the weekend.. and nothing. I've even tried that infamous French method of giving it a symbolic 'perfume' bath and it worked (while it was wet?) for some time but then.. like a roach when the light is turned off... it came back again. :lol:
I don't know what to do... :mellow::wacko:
