Chanel Cruise 2025 Marseille

There's a 12-year gap between Chanel's death and the appointement of Lagerfeld, which was towards the end of a deacde-long rebranding strategy that consisted of a generational change of leadership, a radical rework of the distribution network and a heavy investement in marketing. It will probably be a similar situation for Virginie's replacement.

It ignets sales and buzz as you do a local event and they can shop right after the collection and have a key moment to pamper & engage with vip clients and make appoints for selling etc just like the recent LV show in shanghai.
Yes, the cruise collection arrive in store in November.
Also was just told they are unhappy with how the show went out in Marseille, officially it's not as "polished' as they wanted it, unofficially they'll try to correct the bad buzz....

She could have staged a show in a junk yard or a tip and the clientele would still fawn over and buy her Chanel. The power of the brand is too strong, so they really don't have to worry.

Even though it is mediocre Chanel can (and will) coast along the next decade with Virginie and the bottom line won't change. When the sales start to decrease, they will do what they always do : increase prices and put out tonnes of press on how they are "rarified" and "exclusive" and how the "savoir-faire" is so precise and only available at Chanel, etc etc.

I think after this mess, next couple of shows will be very classic, “pretty” and very “Chanel” (what normal people think Chanel is) to redeem themselves.

I always try to watch Loic's videos, it's the only way I can somehow look beyond the eyesore that is Virginie's collection. The jewellery, accesories and the bags, there's just so many tacky commercial products that Chanel clients, and especially the younger ones, will love and buy I'm afraid.
Even when you only consider it as one large commercial visual merchandising exercise, this was very poorly executed.

It doesn't help that Schiaparelli is still in the red at all these years.
But that’s not his fault. The business model for Schiaparelli couldn’t make money anyway. They were doing Couture only. No bags, no fragrances, no accessories.

I would rather be him now than a lot of designers at big houses. To have an owner that believes in you, throwing money for your success to keep things going and investing now to develop the whole thing is a gift.

A decade of operating Couture at the highest standards while making 0 money out of it is rare, almost unheard off. There’s no marketing money thrown to sell fragrances there.
