Elsa Schiaparelli, "Lobster-dress", 1937. Organza blanc et rouge.
Philadelphia Museum of Modern Art.

Schiaparelli's close contact with Salvador Dali led to a great many surrealistic designs in her clothes, as well as a range of accessories many of which were a statement rather than intended to be worn on the street.

in fact the print on the stella mccartney dress is by jeff koons "Her choice of color and print caught the general season's drift of whites, pale blues and grays, and art-based patterns (in her case, inspired by Jeff Koons), but she wasn't stressing over being über trendy." style.com review, or see article

but it sure looks as if koons was inspired by wesselman!:flower:

elsa schiaparelli had many artists work for her, cocteau springs to my mind, there is a jacket with an embroidery after his design- the tipical cocteau profiles. a "drawer" jacket, also inspired by dalí and other artist designed fantastic buttons or jewellry for her collections.

yves saint laurent
pop collection inspired by tom wesselmann, there are also "nudes" dresses. 60ies
embroidery after cocteau design, too. around 1980
