50 Book Challenge for 2011

^that's why i won't reach my goal, i just love long books too much.
maybe we could set our own goals next year? i'd love to have a challenge like this again, it's interesting to know what everyone's reading, but we all have different reading habits or time available and it's frustrating when you know from the beginning on that you won't reach the goal.
plus, for some i guess it's a goal to read 5 books a year, for others 60 books is easily manageable, so maybe we could just have a reading challenge, but everyone that participates sets his/her own goal?

I love long books too. I buy so many books (soooo many books) so I've become really cheap and picky. I hate buying books under 200 pages, it seems like a total waste of money. I've only read 13 books this year, (or something around this?), but I'm very happy. I've really enjoyed this thread and I'm going to subscribe to any TFS thread with "Book" in the title! I'll keep reviewing my favourites in the Book Reviews thread when I get a chance.

1. Marian Keyes, This Charming Man (I don't actually know when I finished this. I'm just really proud, because it was like 900 pages.)
2. Lucy Kellaway, In Office Hours
3. Lisa Lutz, The Spellmans Strike Again
4. Lisa Lutz, Revenge of the Spellmans
5. Heads you Lose, Lisa Lutz and David Hayward
6. Bossypants, Tina Fey
7. Heart of the Matter, Emily Giffin
8. Summer in the City, Candace Bushnell
9. JPod, Douglas Coupland
10. Special Topics in Calamity Physics, Marisha Pessl
11. The Associate, John Grisham
12. Seriously, I'm Kidding, Ellen Degeneres -- Incredibly meh. Hardly laughed. I like Ellen but this was disappointing.
13. The Visible Man, Chuck Klosterman -- Absolutely amazing fiction book. Totally would recommend to anyone.

I'm reading Mindy Kaling's book now.

Oh, people, you're amazing! Our challenge is gonna end soon. I can't track out the entire topic SO I'll be glad if you post your final list in the last week of the year (26-31 december 2011). On 26th December I'm gonna post a publication and I'm gonna count posts AFTER it.

mint condish, I really like this idea. I'll try to do it.

Put the titles in English, please! (If there's an English title, of course.)

You have almost 2 months so I'm pretty sure you're gonna complete the challenge

Personally, I'm agree that buying book under 200 pages is waste of money. I buy books rarely, I prefer libraries.
I have read only few books and I'm really dissapinted and ashamed of myself especially because I gave the idea for this challenge. I pledge I'll read 50 books next year!!

^that's why i won't reach my goal, i just love long books too much.

i agree, it definitely would be good to start another reading challenge thread next year but make it so that everyone can set their own goals and we can all keep track and discuss with each other as we go along

the community feel of the challenge has definitely made it more fun and encouraging ^_^

No, this is the first book of by Lionel that I have read. I'm only about 1/4 of the way through but it is incredible. So thought provoking and incredibly well written. I haven't seen the preview for the film yet, I'm going to try and wait until after I've finished the book. ^_^
