Phoebe Philo - Designer

.. from the creators of ~~FENTY~~. :zorro:

Kidding, but honestly, LVMH doesn't make it too promising and her return sounds too good to be true but.. still exciting that she's launching her own label, the way everyone should be doing it, and... that she's bothering with the industry at all! maybe she's one of us and she's about had it of looking at all this circus and thought 'I'll teach them how it's done'. I really hope she elevates things (it shouldn't be too hard) and that she's not coming back just to let us know we've lost her too as she churns out more 'luxury streetwear', "Margiela was my mentor", "I know you all wish you were 16 again just like me", "poor Russians are hilarious so let's make it haute couture". In other words, hopeful but suspicious  but.. woohoo..

That's amazing! Proenza, The Row, Jil Sander and Victoria Beckham must be the happiest ones right now.

Joke aside. It is good to have a very talented designer back because there are too many of them doing nothing. I am tired of this long list of uninspired uninspiring untalented designers with big ego we have lately.

I'm falling to my knees! Thank you sweet lord! I knew you wouldn't just punish us with that Pyer Moss travesti for free, it was all just to cleanse our sins before the return of the one and true saviour! Hallelujah!

The only people happier than me with this news are the boys over at Proenza Schouler...

Edit: Oh and the couple in charge of Jil Sander! And the Olsen Twins! And whoever it is that actually designs Victoria's line! And an endless list of copycats! Christmas arrived early this year, @GivenchyAddict!

Please, please do menswear Phoebe. Your voice is desperately needed in menswear scenes.

I hope she only do 2 collections a year top with no pre-collections so she doesn't feel the pressure to send out something just for the sake of commercialism.

Does this mean we finally see something new from Proenza Schouler?

I know she gonna comeback at some point, she has a family to feed.

I am not a fan of LVMH. However, one of the main issues with Fenty was that Rihanna is not a designer and was never invested in it. It was one big name licensing deal disguised as a serious fashion brand and everyone saw through it. Phoebe established herself over the past two decades as a reputable and commercially-successful creative director, with a vision and drive for creating clothing. I am very excited by this. I hope with a studio in London and more control (now that LVMH only has a minority stake for the time being), she is in a healthy environment that will nurture great collections.

@THD96 As much as a menswear line would a be a dream, maybe it is best for Phoebe to focus solely on womenswear (will not complain if Philo does a do a menswear line though). If her line proves to be impactful, the vision will be filtered through other brands who does menswear anyways. And who says us guys can't wear the womenswear collection?

Get ready for the next big shift in fashion. Her debut collection at Celine flipped fashion upside down and the industry followed suit. I really hope she brings a completely new aesthetic and style to her brand. We can't have another Celine collection, even if it's from the woman who created it. She has to reinvent herself, not just for herself but for the industry as a whole. Whatever she does will launch a ripple effect through the industry. She has such immense power in that regard. I pray she takes full advantage of her position and really shakes things up.

Thats exactly what I hope for. Something in my gut says it wont be....but lets wait for it...

Exciting news. It's so interesting/good to hear that she didn't leave Céline on bad terms, and that she maintained a relationship with Delphine Arnault and LVMH. It makes me think that this project may have been in the works for years, probably even inaugurated before her exit from Céline.

I am also curious to see how Philo will separate her work from her Céline tenure, if she will at all? Either way I can't wait to see her vision and hope she will return to Paris fashion week with a show in March 2022!

It's so exciting to see her again, and under her own brand! I really hope she won't end up being eaten alive by LVMH, even if they are only minority owners. Phoebe really deserves to be independent and working on her own. And to be honest, I'd like to see her taking the Alaia methodology.

Proenza boys and Victoria Beckham already have their moodboards cleared out. They must be over the moon with this news.

This is very exciting. I hope she reinvent herself and bring a sort of evolved identity of her aesthetics. Gosh, and the bags! I can't wait.

I’m so happy and kinda scared at the same time:D but I think it doesn’t make sense for her to totally reinvent herself, and I’m almost sure she won’t.

Take my money already!
I’m happy for her ( and for us). Clearly, the industry is still missing her as her work continues to be copied religiously every season and overall, as past leaders like Riccardo and Nicolas are very much into exploring the limits of taste and of their creativity, we need a voice to lead…Again!

Her work has always been progressive. It reflects her as a woman. What she did in the beginning of her career at Chloe was different from what she did at the end. And the slick minimalism of Celine in 2009 evolved into something more abstract towards the end. She was responsible for the cult of Margiela and Lang in the 2010’s.

So, it’s a pleasure to get this news and it’s a pleasure to anticipate the voice of a talented designer who matters again.

Kudos to Delphine Arnault. She is the only one who seems to make good decisions in the group. Her big brother had one job and failed (I’m still bitter about what he did to Haider). And even if she is responsible for MGC’s position, so far, Vuitton, Loewe and Dior are doing great.
Clearly, she needs to make the decisions for Givenchy too. And maybe Antoine should consult her for Berluti.

I think they have learned a great deal from Rihanna’s failure but of course, someone like Phoebe has a real understanding of her vision and of the industry. The strategy won’t be handle by a marketing commitee.

Having LVMH’s back mean a sense of security for Phoebe. She knows them, she knows how they can execute her ideas. It’s easier in terms of production and distribution.

I wonder how her views have evolved regarding topics like E-commerce. And I bet that La Samaritaine will have some sort of exclusivity when the collection is released!

Nevertheless, I’m very excited! A good way to start a week!

I want to be excited about this as everyone else but this project could go either way (especially after a huge talent like Alber Elbaz’s lukewarm debut of AZ Factory).

Never the less it was long over do and I will be curious to see what she comes up with.
