The Age of Personality: 25 Models Who Defined the 2010s

Adut Akech/ Adwoa Aboah/ Anna Ewers/ Ashley Graham/ Bella Hadid/ Binx Walton/ Cara Delevingne/ Edie Campbell/ Gigi Hadid/ Imaan Hammam/ Joan Smalls/ Julia Nobis/ Kaia Gerber/ Karlie Kloss/ Kendall Jenner/ Kiki Willems/ Liu Wen/ Mica Arganaraz/ Nathan Westling/ Paloma Elsesser/ Selena Forrest/ Teddy Quinlivan/ Vittoria Ceretti/ Winnie Harlow

For me most of them make sense because this decade is about individuality and Instagram. I don’t agree that Selena, Winnie and Paloma are on the list. Grace Elizabeth, Lexi Boling and Rianne van Rompaey should replace them.

I understand the notion of individuality, Instagram, social media and model subjectivity etc. We all have our favorite models, for instance some of us love Julia Nobis while others loathe her (I'm fond of Julia lol). So this list in my opinion is so biased.

With that said how could they snub Fei Fei Sun. A list created by US Vogue out of all magazines to do so.

Honestly, this list seems pretty spot-on to me - the list isn't really about the best models of the 2010s, but the models who've influenced the perception of fashion in the 2010s, and I think those models have filled that role at one point or another, and while there are a lot of models I'd add, there are none I'd exclude (okay, maybe I'd swap Selena Forrest for Sora Choi).

no any single VS name? why the hell they were pushing them down our throats in magazines, on covers and shows the whole decade then?

We don't want a list, we want a cover! Or at the very least a splashy pictorial.

If I have to be objective, Kiki, Mica, Winnie and Selena shouldn't be on that list because they've not brought anything new or refreshing to the table which wasn't there before. Plus there's no public following if we want to factor that in. I actually like Selena a lot, but we already had Binx before she arrived, who was the sort of androgynous black beauty...... and despite that built up quite a public profile.
And I'm fine with Fei Fei being excluded because if we have to look for the most famous and acclaimed Asian model, that's really Liu Wen. I don't know about the Korean models - none of them stands out to me at the moment. I wouldn't even be able to ID Sora Choi from a set of polaroids.
Grace Elizabeth would need to be included because she is the new American beauty and made a lot of stride in a short period.

This era was really the return of the American model as they've outnumbered everyone on that list. And the majority of them are quasi-celebs. But here's hoping the UK will deliver a more quirkier-looking girl in the vein of Agyness Deyn. And no, that girl isn't Primrose Archer.

All these other Vogues should make their own lists. I'd be keen to see Vogue China's.

A lot of girls who’s active in the first half of 2010’s have been forgotten, such as Arizona Muse, Saskia Brauw, Constance Jablonski, Daria Strokous, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Karmen Pedaru, Aymeline Valade etc.

'Defined the Age of Personality'??
I only see a few on the list that I would list as 'Personality' models; Ashley, Cara, Gigi, Karlie.
The others would be a different category, Bella, Kaia, Kendall aren't really known for their dynamic personality are they?

I wonder how Kaia that isn’t even 18 yo has defined the decade. Same questions for Adut that has high level jobs for only like two years yet. I feel like five names at least were added for diversity. Paloma who is actually nowhere to be seen except for few pages of Vogue US, Selena for MGC’s Dior while Daria is not listed while she was the face of Raf’s Dior and Jil Sander quite longer. Winnie is kind of instagirl but has she ever appeared on pages of US Vogue? Why Kiki if you could have Rianne for redhead representation (otherwise I don’t get why Kiki got listed)

We still don't know how long Adut's career will be. Remember Lineisy was such a big thing some years ago? And right now she's barely seen somewhere. So it's too soon for Adut (overrated as usual). Also we have Teddy, but not Hanne-Gaby? Lexi Boling should be in the list too along with Anna & Binx. No comments on Kiki & Selena, they could be replaced by anyone.

I feel like Lineisy was on every runway show but barely got any high profile printwork in comparison to Adut. Adut gets a lot of support from Brands like Valentino, Versace, Saint Laurent and Chanel. And she has some Vogue Covers which do help maintain longevity.

Because Edward is Adut’s father and Naomi is her mother

LOL at this list and LOL at Teddy being mentioned.Vogue has stopped making sense a long time ago

Missing Arizona Muse, Lindsey Wixson, Fei Fei Sun, Candice Swanepoel, Jourdan Dunn, Andreea Diaconu and Lineisy Montero from that list.

I hate to admit it, but also Georgia May Jagger and Hailey Baldwin.

Are they joking with that list? After Julia Nobis, the only two people deserving to be there are Karlie and Liu. None of the others qualify. Kendall, maybe, on the technicality that she has a massive following, is a major celebrity, and has some fashion credential, but her list of advertising clients is nowhere near that of the other girls on the list. As for the others, it's just a no! I hate to say it but Imaan Hammam doesn't have the credentials to be on that list either and neither does Adut.

They missed out on Wixson for sure as well as Candace Swanepoel, and Arizona Muse.

The list doesn’t make sense. It should be called the models who defined 2018 at maximum. Surely not an entire decade! They left out most of the models who started before 2015 and throw some random names such as Teddy, Selena, Paloma and Kiki. They’re all pretty successful in their way but to say that they defined this decade is silly, you could switch Selena for Dilone and nobody would notice.
This should be the list in my opinion:
  1. Karlie Kloss. The girl who did it all: high fashion muse, commercial darling , vs angel and model turned mogul.
  2. Gigi Hadid. She brought back the attention to modeling whether we like her or not. If you ask any girl to name three models working at the moment you can be sure Gigi is the first name you will hear,
  3. Kendall Jenner. No matter how bad her modeling skills are: she changed the game, in the era of Instagram and followers fashion could not stay away from her social media influence.
  4. Bella Hadid. She started out as the sister of Gigi with dark hair but she soon built her own career with strong contracts in high fashion and commercial with young people being particularly fond of her street style ( I can assure you)
  5. Joan Smalls. She’s the model of color of this decade. She worked with every big name, she has Estée Lauder, she’s popular, she has never stopped and never had an empty year.
  6. Liu Wen. The Most successful and popular Asian model. She worked not only in fashion but also in television and maintained her relevance.
  7. Cara Delevingne. Another game changer. Even people who had no idea what fashion was knew her name. Her eyebrows, her silly faces, her personality made her leave her mark in the industry.
  8. Jourdan Dunn. She might have slowed down now but she’s still very famous. During the early 2010s and her period of close friendship with cara she was everywhere. People talked about the two like the new Kate and Naomi.
  9. Fei Fei Sun. A real muse in high fashion, her Vogue Italia cover is iconic and she is also supported by some commercial gigs.
  10. Candice Swanepoel. The ultimate VS angel. People love her from all over the world and she was also loved by some in high fashion.
  11. Ashley Graham. The most successful and famous curvy model, nothing to add,
  12. Edie Campbell. The Brit sensation. She worked so much and completed the big 4.
  13. Adwoa Aboah. Her unconventional look, her inspiring story and her work with Gurls Talk definitely make her deserve a place in the list.
  14. Anna Ewers high fashion darling, Wang girl, successful even if mysterious and not active on social media.
  15. Imaan Hammam she’s got the look, the walk, the personality. Her numerous Vogue covers speak for her.
  16. Lineisy Montero surely not as successful as other girls on the list but she totally defined this era by starting the natural hair revolution. After her debut, all agents went to the Dominican Republic.
  17. Arizona Muse. Because of her amount of success, completing the big 4 and being often cited by Anna Wintour.
  18. Vittoria Ceretti. The Italian beauty! She booked everything she could and even completed the big 4
  19. Grace Elizabeth. The American girl, VS Angel that can do high fashion, the face of Estée Lauder.. what else?
  20. Julia Nobis. The high fashion queen! The face of every house and muse of designers and photographers.
  21. Rianne Van Rompaey this redhead is like Vittoria, one of those girls who can book anything
  22. Binx Walton for representing the androgynous look and her unstoppable work
  23. Hanne Gaby for her personality, her work in the intersex community, her street style
  24. Lexi Boling another bad girl part of the Wang gang, a Meisel muse and runway favourite
  25. Adut Akech in a short time she achieved so much and has become a muse of Valentino so she deserves a spot in my opinion.
