What are your "MUST READ" books?

The Master and Margarita by M.Bulgakov
Pride and Prejudice by J. Austen
Wuthering Heights by E. Bronte
Crime and Punishment by F. Dostoyevsky
The Trial by F. Kafka
Eugene Onegin by A. Pushkin

these are the best books I've ever read! I generally love Russian literature, so I'd recommend anything by F. Dostoyevsky, L. Tolstoy A. Pushkin and A. Chekhov:heart:

I must add some amazing books to my list:

Nineteen Eighy-Four by G. Orwell - it's the best book I've ever read.. especially as our country was under the rule of USSR for 50 years... I can see the connections between the book and real life in Eastern Europe after the WW2.

A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce

It is a must to read anything by Octavia Butler. She was the first African-American to receive high international acclaim for her EXTREMELY imaginative science fiction thrillers. She was truly a goddess. Her prose isn't for those who prefer a light load, however.

The Sound of Waves Yukio Mishima
Big Sur Jack Kerouac
The Lover Marguerite Duras
Umrao Jaan Ada
Frankenstein Mary Shelly

The Great Gatsby, some of the characters kind of annoyed me but it's a pretty good book. Also, A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, I really loved this book, it's so simple.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote
In Cold Blood by Truman Capote (amazing)

"Vurt" by Jeff Noon
"Pollen" by Jeff Noon

If you're a fan of sci-fi/cyberpunk those 2 books are IT.

SHANTARAM by Gregory David Roberts

GONE WITH THE WIND by Margaret Mitchell

Nausea by Sartre, The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoyevsky,............,

A bit obvious: L'Étranger by Camus. It really is excellent.

But people should also get into Duras, Nin, Söderberg, Dagerman. My favorites.

The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Milan Kundera. My favorite book by far.

East of Eden
Thérèse Raquin
The Picture of Dorian Gray

=)

I always wanted to read Therese Raquin. I heard it was depressing:cry:

I recommend The Mists of Avalon. It's a female retelling of the Arthurian legend. Beautiful book.

Girl with the dragon tattoo series
The bronze horseman series
Jessica by Bryce Courtney

Wuthering Heights - Emily Brontë
Dom Casmurro - Machado de Assis
Les Liaisons dangereuses - Pierre Choderlos de Laclos
