From what I hear, I probably would not like Sin City. I don't like gory/violent movies for one, secondly a lot of my friends told me it was misogynist and that all the female characters were strippers/whores. I'm seriously picky when it comes to how females are portrayed in movies.

Thanks so much everyone for replying in my thread! I can't believe a thread of mine was so successful! I really appreciate all the recommendations.

I cannot wait for Chronicles of Narnia and King Kong.

oolie coco thanks for creating the thread:heart: Lovely idea.

strawberry reminded me of a bunch of others I forgot to mention, too!

Les Choristes
Corpse Bride
Thumbsucker
2046

How could I forget...

Oh and with Sin City - it's not that I'm not picky about how females are portrayed in films, it's just that I try to completely separate myself and look at the film in a more cultural way - if that makes sense... I mean it's based on a comic, and comics aren't real... They aren't portraying females in a way that the filmmakers think they should be portrayed in real life, they're just exaggerating things artistically as comics usually do... in my opinion.

the Forty Year Old Virgin (hilarious)
Shopgirl (moving)

Thank you for that opinion Cosette! I really appreciate it. I would definitely see the film if I was able to take gore/violence more. I can be such a baby about that. I'm a HUGE fan of Devon Aoki.

I wish I'd seen Sin City just to say I liked it :P but the truth is, I haven't seen too much this year :ninja:

But from what I have:

Constant Gardener
Corpse Bride
Harry Potter (naturally I'm speaking as a loyal fan)

^ you would like it, i'm sure. come on, don't you love murder ballads? :D

sin city and broken flowers were pretty outstanding, i'd say.

also, i'm glad to see a fellow harry potter fan in you, jennifer. B) unfortunately, i must admitt i didn't like this last one, but there is still hope.

Batman Begins
The Constant Gardner
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Crash
The Interpreter
Sin City
Cinderella Man

And 2046...although its real release in the east was way before this year XD;
