Vogue Paris March 2016 : Gigi Hadid by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

I am here for THIS.

Gigi ...

Say the name, y'all, because it's one we'll be saying in fashion for years to come.

Gigi.

She just keeps getting better and better. More and more alluring and sultry and evocative. These pics are fantastic!! Her best work to date and pretty epic covers. Cannot wait to see the editorial.

It's the first week of February and we've already had Gigi on UK Vogue and Vogue Paris in 2016. I'm sure there's more to come!

And for people freaking out that Gigi is gonna land the "Big Four" -- sometimes when a model's career just explodes like this, that's what happens. Karolina Kurkova landed all Big Four covers in the first 7 months of 2001. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Gigi do the same in 2016. Now, I recognize that times are different now and models don't land covers as regularly as they did in 2001, but Gigi is also a celebrity. Like, a pretty huge one right now. So it's definitely possible for her.

The black and white is amazing..I don't know how anyone can disagree. The second one is unnecessary when you already have such a great one.

Anyway, the response in this thread is extremely positive. And that is because she is no Kendall. Kendall is very plain and from the most famous family in the world. Without fashion, Kendall would still be famous, as Kylie is. Gigi on the other hand has outshone all other girls from reasonably famous families (e.g. Hailey Baldwin, Ali Lohan) because she is exceptional. Yeah of course, she is there because of her connections, but she has moved past that, whereas other girls from the same background, including her own sister, never will.

You never know... Look at Agyness, Cara, Arizona, Vanessa Axente... It seemed they were coming to stay and they are booking nothing anymore. She could be a flash in the pan also.

Totally against having Gisele instead of Gigi. I'm exhausted and it would look very 'Vogue Brasil anniversary', which already does.

The thing is that this girl has l'air du temps all over her, she's the now, but she's boring too.

BTW, whenever Gigi has worked with Carine, the result has been better. Once again, Alt is behind Carine's bandwagon. It's incredible that Carine has discovered someone from her tiny magazine, while Alt being in VP for 5 years didn't even discover a model, stylist or a photographer. Alt is not a leader, she's a pure follower. And someone at the helm of a magazine like this should be a leader. And hire a better graphic designer!!!!

BTW II, it also says a lot about the irrelevance of VP that this year it has had the exact same cover subjects as Vogue UK. Come on!

actually, this fad of using celebrities' children as "models" will be over before we know it (thankfully )

^I doubt that very much. It's not a fad, actually, as it's been happening for a long time.

Are we really still talking about if this girl is model or not?
For me, it's no doubt that she is model. I don't know about you guys but for me she is more a model than someone like Kendall Jenner or even Cara D.

Obviously, people in the industry also feel that. She still has to prove herself as a model but i think she is doing good.

She is a beautiful, then unknown girl, that was discovered by Carine. She is model who happens to be famous...

Her parents are quite unknown outside of America. And please, don't forget that Marisa Berenson was Schiaparelli's granddaughter or someone like Stella Tennant...

Exactly. So many models throughout history have come from wealthy and/or connected families. Veruschka is another one who comes to mind. Her parents were German aristocrats. It's not like this is some new fad.

Yeah, I think she and Kendall (and Cara) are the new 'supermodels', like in the 90's, with a huge popular following. They are daughters of famous people (I've never heard about Gigi's mother and don't even know who she is), but their careers are very focused on modeling at the moment.

Gigi definitely is trying to build up her career and she is really trying to be a good model. I like both covers. Honestly, it's better than Kendall's cover.

ah yes, the infamous "is she really a model" argument

My sister commented on the Gigi cover that she felt Gisele would have done the "nude without actually showing anything" concept better and I don't think I can disagree with that statement even though I do think Gigi is great in this.

Disagree, that would have felt stale. That is the problem with magazines lately, boring ideas being rehashed over and over with the same crop of models.

And while, yes, these models who are famous for being famous are hardly a new concept Gigi, used in this manner, feels MODERN and looks absolutely stunning.

I can agree with you about the Huppert concept though!

^ I can't deny that it would be beating a dead horse, but Gisele in her skivvies for Vogue Paris will always be one of those 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' fashion standards for me. I'm incredibly biased  Thankfully I'm sure I wont have to wait very long to see that concept turn up on the cover again

This is Gigi's moment though, in more ways than one and a well deserved moment. She didn't spring up overnight she's been modeling for a long time it is nice to see her doing this and doing it well.

The covers are fine & much better than the Kendull's cover. It seems than the 2nd cover was shot by Inez & Vinoodh?

The nude cover is great, the other one is boring. But I think it would've been much better seeing someone like Karlie, Lara, or Raquel. They've been working hard in the industry for a long time, I feel like they deserve it way more

her body at work is better than her bored expressions.

Don't like the second cover but the first, nude one, is gorgeous!

If I remember correctly When Miranda did a nude cover Everyone says 'where is fashion' 'Hate it' etc And it is completely another case here I like the second nude shoot the best Gigi is one boring model Beautiful girl no doubt But a very boring model Her eyes don't sparkle do they Better than her Versace though

the nude shot look a outtake of Stuart Weitzman SS2016 Campaing

You´re right. Amazing how the right direction makes one cover look like a high fashion one and the other like a luxury escort service ad...

Well, Kendall is not really a high mark to jump over;-)))
