The Red Carpet Highlights of... The 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival 2024!
Alexander Wang accuse of being a serial r*pist. Not really surprised tho, his "after party" become more notorious than his clothes.
Interesting to see how the industry reacts - I notice Hollie-May Saker is the only model so far to like the post. I'm not shocked at any of these stories these days but I do really hate this repetitive scenario of an account posting every message they get on their stories for the thrill of gossip then the alleged perp being bombarded with comments about them being cancelled. Where is the genuine concern for the victim and disappointment at the industry for allowing sexual predators to thrive? If this is true I hope he gets his penance but all I see is thousands of bored people frothing over their 'tea' and seemingly excited over a new scandal every time. This is surely not the way to deal with these situations.
You read my mind Benn98 - I am sad to believe my dearest Hanne may have known! Interesting to see if any major models call him out. Haven't seen the story in any major publications yet - I imagine they'll vet their info very carefully before unleashing.I'm with you! Not a single post I've seen on that thread seem concerned about the ones who came forward.
And I know many will not agree with this, but I wish the victims would go to a newspaper instead and let them investigate the claims further. That way they at least have some sort of protection and at least the public will rest assured that research had been done. By doing it on a live or Tik Tok they're basically opening themselves up to a lawsuit and I'm sure it won't count in their favour once the case lands in front of a judge.
Can't say I'm shocked at these allegations. Bet the so-called Wang squad (Anna/Lexi/Binx, and yes, Hanne, too Dsamg ) are biting their nails because once this goes mainstream people will want to know how much exactly they knew, especially when you consider all the 'parties' they've been to, him hiring R Kelly and them posing next to him despite allegations already public at the time, that controversial I&V campaign.....
So yeah, not exactly a flowery rap sheet.

Totally agree. However, I will say Mica, Julia Nobis and Hanne have always had reputations for being very kind people so I am surprised in that respect. I notice Camille Hurel and Marine have liked the DP post so that does suggest it was known among models to me. A lot of celebs with (now) squeaky clean reputations like Reese W have given him birthday shoutouts which I imagine they are regretting. It still seems no one has picked up the story? Shows the power he wields in the industry. I'd like to think his career is over - I for one won't miss his made in China "luxury" goods. How could they not know considering a lot of these situations were out in the open at parties. Some of them even said his squad had to get involved or laughed at the person getting harassed. Party mode does not mean it is ok to harass people. Azelia Banks, who performed at one of the parties, even outed him a few years ago.
Maybe this should go in model behavior. But some of the girls in that squad don't have the greatest reputation of character or kindness. Not naming anyone because of their legions of fans here. Some of them are past their prime but others are in the peak of their career. And they're all in demand models. This clearly shows how this stuff runs deeps in the industry and is normalized.
It is a shame because he clearly has issues and so do his model friends. Doesn't mean they can project their misery and emptiness on other people. Drugs and alcohol also will not help with their issues.

Saw these two screenshots and came to post here as they are a perfect example of what I was saying before - is this about helping people or about shitmodelmgmt getting followers? A little bizarre that they act like it is a celebration IMO!

This stuff about Wang has been floating around the internet for years, I was actually surprised it took this long to gain traction.
I'm sure if a journalist starts digging they'll find a lot of stories like that.
I can’t help but wonder that it has to do with him being a marginalized person in a predominantly white fashion industry. As a person of Asian descent, even if I don’t care for his design, his success is nothing short of monumental. That, or people find him far from the usual depiction of predators which makes the stories appear as if they are just hear-says.

Well, Well... Thats weird and fast turnaround. As far as I can see in the case of Shia La Beouf you explicitly condemn the relativization of predatory / violent behavior. Especially sympatizing with bullies and predators. Now, out of the blue, we suddenly have the most obscure explanations for his misbehaviour, and all of a sudden he is a victim. Wondering what changed in the meantime?
He has struggles just like everyone else. But sexually harassing people and leaning into drugs and alcohol is not the way to handle it. Why "we" put these kinds of people on a pedestal when they are just like pedestrians is something I don't know.
There are many other successful Asian LGBTQ designers out there who don't have the party boy junkie reputation. Sure they have not built the modern day empires like Alexander but I would say they are incredibly successful household names and maybe more talented with better clothing. The others might not be considered the edgiest or coolest but is that really a bad thing?Vera Wang came before Alexander and she is one of the modern day American fashion dream stories.
Alexander is or was considered the coolest kid at the party and so was his model squad. Everyone wanted to sit at his lunch table and he knew that. And "if you weren't invited to the party then you're a nobody".. Is it not surprising that he loves the movie Mean Girls and knows he is essentially Regina George? There is an entire industry to brainwash people into wanting to be in his club. We know how this cliche ends. Most of the models he hangs out with, who happen to be top models, suffer from drug and alcohol addiction. It's the same story over and over again. The industry needs to wake up that there are some really deep issues and allow people to get help instead of enabling.
